Many Blessings, One Family of God.
My Dear Friends,
Praised be Jesus Christ!
It is a great privilege to serve the Lord in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Parish. Our community is extraordinary in today’s world. It is a place of refuge and peace. Through the Sacraments, prayer, and adoration, our parish community is living out the desire to be better followers of Jesus Christ. The reverence at Holy Mass is inspiring. All members of the parish can acknowledge how blessed we are to have a key number of parishioners who are generous with their time and their financial support to the benefit of the whole parish.
Many among us are involved in showing God’s love to our neighbors through acts of charity and service. Some are devoted to the education and formation of our young people. We have people involved in evangelization, ministry to youth, prison ministry, visiting the homebound, and various essential aspects of life. My hope is that you will recognize that you, too, have the means and opportunity to do something for God, which, I’m guessing, you really have wanted to do, but didn’t know where to start. There are many ways to contribute to the life of the Church. Serving God is not reserved to the privileged few. It is not reserved for those who have done everything right. It is not reserved to those who “know everything.”
No one is surprised that the costs of maintaining our parish facilities, ministries and parish activities, and outreach efforts have risen significantly in the last several years. In the last two years, alone, we have spent over $300,000.00 on two new air conditioners. Thankfully, and at a relatively small cost, we fought for and won coverage from our insurer for the bulk of the equipment and repairs because of equipment failure. Our insurance costs, property and liability, just like yours, have risen significantly. We now pay over $120,000.00 annually. That is about 1/5 of our operating income. Plus, we must now find a way to set up a fund to cover our deductible, which is now $250,000.00 for building repairs. From routine maintenance and utility expenses to the resources needed to reach others, these financial challenges require us to come together as a community to ensure the vitality of our parish.
With this mission in mind, I invite you to join us in our parish’s new stewardship initiative: Many Blessings, One Family of God. As you review the details of the enclosed brochure, I ask you to prayerfully consider how you and your family can actively support the work of Jesus Christ through our parish community. Our goal is to increase our Sunday offertory contributions to expand our ability to bring Jesus Christ to as many people as possible. While this is no small task in today’s climate, I am confident that our faithful parishioners are ready to rise to the occasion.
We invite members of our community to come together and make a financial commitment that will allow Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church to continue to flourish. We are counting on you! Your participation in Many Blessings, One Family of God is a way to respond to God’s immense love by sharing that love with others through the heart of His Son.
Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and unwavering commitment Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
In Christ,
Fr. Edward Richard
